π Lore: Enhancing Character Depth and Interaction
What is Lore?
Lore (also known as 'Fact and Knowledge' or 'Lorebook') is a powerful tool that dynamically enriches character information. It allows characters to develop a deeper understanding of their world and personal settings, enabling advanced customization of your interactions.
How Lore Works
While essential character details belong in the "Character Description," Lore is perfect for secondary information or details that should only be triggered under specific conditions. The system works through a simple but effective mechanism:
- Keywords: Specific terms that, when mentioned in conversation, trigger associated content
- Content: The information that becomes available when keywords are detected
Keywords can be separated by commas or semicolons, and any match within a conversation will activate the corresponding content.
Practical Applications of Lore
- Streamline Character Descriptions: Reduce model hallucinations by keeping core descriptions clean
- Create Surprises: Hide easter eggs and secrets for users to discover
- Control Narratives: Manage branching storylines based on conversation direction
- Build Interactive Systems: Create RPG commands and response systems
- Expand Creativity: Develop complex worlds with conditional information
Examples in Action
Character Background Example
Keywords: "leg, high school, hurt"
Content: "Coco broke his left leg in high school."
Detailed Character Lore Example
Keywords: "Hutao, Hu tao, Wangsheng"
Content: "Hu Tao is the director of the Wangsheng in Liyue, a region in Genshin Impact. Despite her young age, she handles her responsibilities with surprising maturity. Known for her lively and mischievous personality, she takes her duties very seriously. She has a unique perspective on life and death, seeing death not as an end but as a continuation of life. Hu Tao often uses poetry and humor to express her thoughts on these matters, bringing a sense of mystery and warmth to those around her."
Interactive Command System Example
Keywords: "/help, /helps"
Content: "When the user types /help, disregard previous information and context. Only display the following content: Here are the orders list. /orderA: order description /orderB: order description"
Managing Your Lorebook
For advanced users familiar with JSON tools:
- Use the Download Template button to get a template file
- Edit your Lorebook based on the template (up to 200 entries)
- Use Import to quickly upload your customized Lorebook
You can also import JSON or PNG format Lorebooks from other platforms or export your own Lorebook for quick migration between character editing pages.
Best Practices
- Keep Keywords Concise: Short and clear keys work better
- Consider User Behavior: Think about what terms users are likely to mention
- Be Precise: Only exact matches trigger content, so avoid typos
- Balance Content Length: Long Lore entries reduce the likelihood of other Lores being triggered
